Australian Native flower Painting

A few months ago I got inspired to do an abstract painting of some Australian native flowers on a canvas I had laying around. It was a different direction then my illustration and my other painting work but I really enjoyed the process and the final piece…

Before leaving Australia for some travels abroad, I was commissioned to paint a large canvas in a similar style which I was super stoked to take on! It ended up taking longer then expected but I love the meditative process of working on something like this. It forces you to just be there and focus on each stroke. I also loved the fact that I was working with one of my all time favourite themes, Australian natives, right before leaving my beloved home for awhile.

I find the shapes, textures and colours of Australian natives endlessly inspiring and I can’t wait to work with them more in the future.
