Wonderful watercolours
In the lead up to the intro to watercolours class (Sun March 18) I thought I would share some famous watercolour paintings which I find to be inspiring and beautiful. Of course the aim is never to be perfect or to try and render an artwork exactly like someone else's, but it's good to study and appreciate works of exceptional skill to see what we can learn, and to see where the potential of the medium lies.
In the class we will start slow by learning brush work, techniques and colour mixing and work up to doing a small painting each, using all the skills learned. Also, there will be cheese, wine, and cake :D

And lastly, NOT a famous painting but one of my favourite watercolours that I've done inspired by my time in The Desert.
Watercolour is a versatile, fun, loose and dreamy medium and it doesn't take much practice to get a few good skills under your belt to start producing work that you're excited and happy about.
